Volunteer Marine Rescue (VMR) Whitsunday is a non-profit volunteer organisation based in Airlie Beach. Our primary purpose is to ensure that the boating public remain safe in the Whitsunday area.
We are an affiliated squadron of Marine Rescue Queensland.
VMR Whitsunday volunteer boat crew provide a `first response’ emergency service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week We also assist Water Police with Search and Rescue and assist Ambulance crews with Medivacs.
Volunteer radio operators maintain a vessel monitoring service every weekend and on public holidays from 0700 to 1700 hrs. The radio channels we monitor are: VHF Radio Channels 16, 67, 81 and 82
Our volunteers, come from all walks of life including commercial skippers, accountants, retirees, business owners, mechanics and much more.
A very high priority is placed on all aspects of training, including; marine operations, first aid, marine radio, and emergency search and rescue procedures.

Our operations base, training venue, radio base and social venue are located in the Whitsunday Marine Club in Altmann Avenue, Cannonvale.
Our rescue vessels are both located at Coral Sea Marina, with berthing for both vessels offered free of charge by Coral Sea Marina|Resort, our Platinum Sponsor.
